Yes, 100% free — no subscription, no hidden fees, no premium tier. ScentSnap earns a small commission when users make purchases through Amazon affiliate links in our extension. This happens at no extra cost to you and keeps the extension permanently free.
Do I need to create an account?+
No. Install ScentSnap from the Chrome Web Store and it works instantly. No sign-up, no login, no email required — ever. The extension stores only your local preferences (like UI settings) in your own browser.
How many fragrances are in the database?+
Currently 50+ fragrances with full scent profiles, including the most popular luxury perfumes and their best budget alternatives. We regularly update the database with new additions. If you'd like a specific fragrance added,

What websites does ScentSnap work on?+
ScentSnap currently activates automatically on: Amazon, Sephora, Ulta, FragranceNet, Nordstrom, Macy's, Fragrantica, Notino, and FragranceX. We're adding new sites regularly. If there's a site you'd like supported, let us know via our

Does ScentSnap work on mobile?+
ScentSnap is a Chrome extension for desktop browsers (Windows, Mac, ChromeOS). It does not currently work on mobile browsers, as Chrome extensions are not supported on iOS or Android Chrome. A mobile version may be explored in the future.
Privacy & Data
Does ScentSnap track my browsing?+
No. ScentSnap operates entirely using a built-in offline fragrance database. When you visit a supported page, the extension reads the product name visible on that page to identify the fragrance — this processing happens locally in your browser. No data is sent to any external server.
What permissions does ScentSnap request and why?+
ScentSnap requests two Chrome permissions:
activeTab: To read the product title on the current page to identify the fragrance. We only access the active tab, only on supported retail sites, and only while the extension is in use.
storage: To save your local preferences (like whether you've dismissed the welcome message). All data stays on your device and never leaves it.
Does ScentSnap sell my data?+
No. ScentSnap does not collect personal data, so there is nothing to sell. We do not work with data brokers, advertising networks, or third-party analytics services. The only monetization is Amazon affiliate commissions, which are earned when you choose to click and purchase through our links.
Dupe Finder
How accurate are the dupe match percentages?+
Match percentages are estimates based on shared scent notes, scent family classification, and fragrance community consensus — not a guarantee of exact similarity. A 90% match means the two perfumes share very similar dominant notes and character. Scent is subjective, so individual experiences will vary. We believe our curated recommendations are highly reliable, but always suggest trying a sample before committing to a full bottle.
Where does the dupe database come from?+
Our dupe database is compiled from fragrance community research, expert comparisons published on platforms like Fragrantica and Basenotes, shared ingredient analysis, and extensive community reviews. It's built by real fragrance enthusiasts, not automated guesswork.
Will dupes show up on every perfume page?+
Dupes are shown when the fragrance is in our database and known alternatives have been identified. For fragrances we don't yet cover, ScentSnap will still show the scent profile if available, but may not display dupe recommendations. Our database is regularly expanded.

Are the Amazon links affiliate links?+
Yes. ScentSnap is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program. When you click a product link in our extension and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission. This is at no additional cost to you — you pay the same price you'd see on Amazon directly.
Do affiliate commissions influence which dupes are recommended?+
No. Our dupe recommendations are based entirely on fragrance similarity as determined by community research. We do not give preferential treatment to products with higher commission rates or products we are paid to promote. All recommendations are independent and based solely on scent profile merit.
Does using affiliate links cost me anything extra?+
Not at all. You pay exactly the same price you would pay going directly to Amazon. The commission comes from Amazon's end, not from the price you pay. There is no markup and no hidden cost.
